I have been playing guitar for 30 years, since I was a young lad! I have been a professional guitarist for many years, and am a lifelong committed musician. I have played in many successful function bands, playing guitar, guitar-synth and singing harmonies, touring all around the UK and Germany, playing many varied venues from pubs and clubs to military bases.

I have also built guitars since I was a teenager, I spent a few years as a self-employed guitar builder, and still do swirl paint finishes on guitars (Richard Fay Swirls) I now pretty much play only my own guitars, all 7-strings (six normal strings plus a low B), although I’m quite an unusual 7-string player as most of them play full-on metal, and that’s not really what I’m about.

I have also spent my whole life concentrating on writing music. I have always written songs, slowly developing my writing skills and absorbing many influences. I have written for TV adverts, and for a local film maker, and am currently working on lots of instrumentals for an online TV and movie music library. In recent years I have also been learning more about the magic of the recording studio, recording my own songs and my bands. I am extremely interested in recording other people, using their projects to learn more about sound. I am now writing more songs than ever, recording them in my home studio, and am always keen to hear from others with a view to writing or recording.

In the last few years I have become an oil painter, and enjoy the relaxation of painting.

I am based in North Devon, UK, which is a lovely part of the world, and have been extremely happily married for 27 years, with an 22 year old son, who is also a guitarist, recently graduated from Bimm Bristol.
